ROYAL CHALLENGES OFFICIAL RULES

These Official Rules apply to Royal Challenges organised by Royal Rolling. Individual Royal Challenges may contain additional Challenge-Specific Rules, including the challenge assignment, prize, deadline and judging criteria.

By entering a Royal Challenge, the participant agrees to these Official Rules and the applicable Challenge-Specific Rules.

1. Skill-Based Competition

Royal Challenges are skill-based competitions.

Winners are determined by the quality and performance of eligible entries according to predetermined judging criteria.

Winners are not selected by random draw, lottery or chance.

Possession of a particular Fortune Card, Fortune number, Royal Collector Emblem or other collectible does not automatically determine the winner of a prize.

Random selection will not be used to resolve a tie.

2. No Purchase Necessary

No purchase is necessary to participate in a Royal Challenge.

Participants who own a Fortune Card may scan the QR code on their card to access the current Royal Challenge directly.

Participants who do not own a Fortune Card can access the same Royal Challenge free of charge through the official Free Entry page.

Purchasing a Royal Mystery Envelope does not improve a participant's score, judging position or likelihood of winning a Royal Challenge.

All participants compete under the same Challenge-Specific Rules and judging criteria.

3. Eligibility

Unless otherwise stated in the Challenge-Specific Rules, participation is open to natural persons aged 18 years or older who are legal residents of the Netherlands.

Participants must be able to provide valid proof of identity, age and residency if reasonably requested for verification.

Employees, owners and persons directly involved in organising or judging a Royal Challenge, as well as members of the judging panel, may not participate.

Royal Rolling may exclude additional persons where participation could create an actual or apparent conflict of interest.

4. Challenge Period

Each Royal Challenge will have a clearly stated:

  • opening date and time;
  • closing date and time;
  • submission deadline; and
  • expected winner announcement date.

Only entries successfully received before the published deadline will be considered.

The applicable time zone will be Central European Time (CET/CEST) unless otherwise stated.

5. Challenge-Specific Rules

Before participation begins, Royal Rolling will publish the Challenge-Specific Rules for each Royal Challenge.

These will include at minimum:

Challenge:
The exact assignment participants must complete.

Prize:
A description of the prize.

Prize Value:
The approximate economic/retail value of the prize at the start of the Challenge.

Opening:
announced on fridays

Deadline:
Sunday 23:59

Submission Method:
How and where an entry must be submitted.

Judging Criteria:
The skills and qualities on which entries will be assessed and the weighting of each criterion.

Tie-Break Procedure:
The predetermined skill-based procedure used if two or more entries achieve the same final score.

Material judging criteria will not be changed after entries have begun unless necessary due to circumstances outside Royal Rolling's reasonable control and provided that participants are not unfairly disadvantaged.

6. Entering a Royal Challenge

Participants must follow the submission instructions published for the applicable Royal Challenge.

Unless otherwise stated, each participant may submit one entry per Royal Challenge.

Submitting multiple entries through different names, email addresses, accounts or other methods in an attempt to circumvent the entry limit may result in disqualification.

An entry is only valid when all mandatory requirements of the applicable Challenge-Specific Rules have been satisfied.

7. Skill Determines the Winner

The result of a Royal Challenge is determined by participant performance.

Depending on the particular Challenge, relevant skills may include:

  • creativity;
  • originality;
  • accuracy;
  • knowledge;
  • execution;
  • problem-solving;
  • craftsmanship;
  • interpretation;
  • presentation; or
  • other objectively described skills relevant to the assignment.

The specific criteria and their weighting will always be published before the applicable Challenge closes.

8. Judging

Eligible entries will be assessed by a judging panel appointed by Royal Rolling.

Judges will evaluate entries individually according to the published criteria.

Where appropriate, judges may use a numerical scoring system.

For example, a creative Royal Challenge could be scored as follows:

Creativity — 40 points
Execution — 30 points
Interpretation — 20 points
Presentation — 10 points

Maximum Score — 100 points

The eligible entry achieving the highest final score will be declared the winner, subject to verification.

Judges may not introduce random factors into the scoring process.

9. Tie-Break Procedure

A winner will never be selected at random in the event of a tie.

The Challenge-Specific Rules will state the applicable tie-break procedure before the Challenge begins.

Unless another procedure is published, tied entries will first be compared using the criterion with the highest weighting.

If the entries remain tied, the second-highest weighted criterion will be compared, followed by each remaining criterion in descending order.

If the entries remain tied after all published criteria have been compared, the tied participants will complete an additional skill-based tie-break challenge.

The winner of that tie-break challenge will be determined according to predetermined judging criteria.

No random draw, coin toss, lottery or other chance-based method will be used to break a tie.

10. Fortune Cards & Royal Collector Emblems

Fortune Cards and Royal Collector Emblems are collectible elements of the Royal Mystery Envelope experience.

The Fortune Card number or collectible received inside a Royal Mystery Envelope does not by itself determine the winner of a Royal Challenge.

Royal Rolling may feature particular Fortune Cards, numbers, themes or Collector Emblems in connection with a Royal Challenge.

Where a collectible is used to introduce, inspire or provide convenient access to a Royal Challenge, the actual winner will still be determined by the participant's performance under the published judging criteria.

Unless expressly stated otherwise in legally reviewed Challenge-Specific Rules, ownership of a particular randomly distributed collectible will not provide additional judging points or improve a participant's score.

11. Fortune Friday

Royal Rolling may introduce a featured Fortune as part of Fortune Friday.

For example:

“Fortune #83 has been selected as this week's Featured Fortune.”

Selection of a Featured Fortune does not itself determine the winner of a prize.

The Featured Fortune may determine or inspire the theme of the applicable Royal Challenge.

The winner of the Royal Challenge will be determined separately through skill and performance according to the published judging criteria.

12. Prizes

The prize for each Royal Challenge will be announced before or at the start of the Challenge.

Prizes may include, among other things:

  • limited-edition collectibles;
  • jewellery;
  • diamonds;
  • genuine gold;
  • other physical prizes; or
  • special Royal Collector rewards.

For Challenges involving gold or other assets whose market value fluctuates, Royal Rolling may state the approximate economic value calculated at a specified reference date.

A prize cannot be exchanged for cash unless explicitly stated otherwise.

Royal Rolling will not replace a prize with a materially inferior prize except where reasonably necessary due to circumstances outside its control.

13. Verification of Winners

A provisional winner may be required to provide information reasonably necessary to verify:

  • identity;
  • age;
  • country of residence;
  • compliance with the Official Rules;
  • authorship of the submitted work; and
  • eligibility to receive the prize.

Verification is not an additional competition and will not be used to select a different winner based on chance.

If a provisional winner is found to have breached these Official Rules, the entry may be disqualified.

In that event, the prize may be awarded to the next highest-scoring eligible entry according to the original judging results.

14. Prize Claim

A provisional winner will be contacted using the contact details provided with the entry.

Unless otherwise stated, the winner must respond within 14 days of the first notification.

If the winner fails to respond within the claim period after reasonable attempts to make contact, refuses the prize, cannot be verified or is disqualified, the prize may be offered to the next highest-scoring eligible participant.

A replacement winner will not be selected randomly.

15. Fair Play & Fraud

Royal Rolling reserves the right to disqualify an entry where there are reasonable grounds to conclude that the participant has:

  • submitted false information;
  • manipulated the submission or judging process;
  • impersonated another person;
  • plagiarised another person's work;
  • submitted work they did not create where original work was required;
  • used multiple identities or accounts to circumvent entry limits;
  • attempted to improperly influence a judge;
  • interfered with the website or submission system;
  • violated the Challenge-Specific Rules; or
  • otherwise acted fraudulently or unfairly.

Disqualification decisions must relate to compliance and integrity and may not be used to introduce randomness into winner selection.

16. Artificial Intelligence

Unless the Challenge-Specific Rules expressly permit it, participants may not use generative artificial intelligence to create the material elements of an entry where doing so would replace the skill being assessed.

Where AI-assisted tools are permitted, participants may be required to disclose how those tools were used.

The applicable Challenge-Specific Rules will determine what assistance is and is not permitted.

17. Original Work & Intellectual Property

Participants must have all rights and permissions necessary to submit their entry.

Entries must not unlawfully infringe copyrights, trademarks, privacy rights, portrait rights or other rights belonging to third parties.

Unless explicitly agreed otherwise, participants retain ownership of the intellectual property rights in their original entry.

By submitting an entry, the participant grants Royal Rolling a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display, reproduce and share the entry for purposes directly connected with the Royal Challenge, including announcing winners, displaying previous entries and promoting the Royal Challenges.

Where Royal Rolling wishes to use an entry for materially different commercial advertising purposes, additional permission may be requested where required.

18. Prohibited Content

Entries may be rejected or disqualified if they contain unlawful content, threats, harassment, hate speech, explicit sexual content, dangerous conduct, infringement of third-party rights or other material that Royal Rolling reasonably considers inappropriate for the Challenge.

This rule will not be used to favour or disadvantage an entry based on its competitive quality.

19. Privacy

Personal information submitted in connection with a Royal Challenge will be processed for purposes including:

  • administering the Challenge;
  • receiving and reviewing entries;
  • contacting participants;
  • verifying winners;
  • delivering prizes;
  • preventing fraud; and
  • complying with legal obligations.

Further information about how Royal Rolling processes personal data can be found in the applicable Privacy Policy.

Participation in a Royal Challenge does not require consent to receive unrelated marketing communications.

Where participants separately choose to receive marketing communications, they may withdraw that consent in accordance with the applicable Privacy Policy.

20. Publication of Winners

Royal Rolling may publish information reasonably necessary to announce and document the result of a Royal Challenge, subject to applicable privacy law.

Where appropriate this may include the winner's first name or public username, winning entry, final score and prize won.

Additional personal information will not be published unless there is an appropriate legal basis or permission to do so.

21. Technical Problems

Royal Rolling is not responsible for technical interruptions outside its reasonable control that prevent or delay submission.

Where a widespread technical failure materially affects fair participation, Royal Rolling may extend the submission period or take another proportionate measure to restore fair participation.

Any such decision will apply consistently to affected participants and will not be used to influence which participant wins.

22. Changes, Suspension or Cancellation

Royal Rolling may modify, suspend or cancel a Royal Challenge where circumstances outside its reasonable control make continuation impossible, unlawful or materially unfair.

Royal Rolling will not change the judging criteria, scoring system or other material competition rules merely to influence the identity of the winner.

Any material change will be communicated as clearly and promptly as reasonably possible.

23. Decisions & Records

Royal Rolling will maintain reasonable records of the judging process, including the applicable judging criteria and final scoring/results.

Participants may contact Royal Rolling with questions concerning the application of the Official Rules.

The judging panel's assessment of the quality of an entry is final to the extent permitted by applicable law, without limiting any mandatory statutory rights a participant may have.

24. Organiser

The Royal Challenges are organised by:

25. Applicable Law

These Official Rules are governed by Dutch law.

Nothing in these Official Rules excludes or restricts any mandatory rights participants have under applicable law.

26. Core Principle

The Royal Challenges are designed around one fundamental principle:

Skill determines the winner.

Collectibles, Fortune Cards, Royal Collector Emblems and Featured Fortunes form part of the Royal Mystery Envelope experience, but the winner of a Royal Challenge is determined by performance under predetermined judging criteria.
